4 Steps To Put Goals Into Motion

This time of year is where a lot of people have new beginnings and goals that come to fruition. Even though fall is a time of decay, as it’s also a time when transformation happens. You could compare it to harvesting a garden or the process of when a caterpillar becoming a butterfly. The things you set into motion earlier in the year are finally producing results.

What happens, though, if you’re still struggling to get what you want and achieve your goals? What if you’re stuck or unsure that your goals are ever going to be a reality? Here are some ideas to keep you motivated on the journey:

Know where you’re going: If the goals you made earlier in the year have changed or if you didn’t create meaningful goals, this is a great time to redefine where you’re going and set yourself on the path to achieve your goals.

Write down the end result: Even if you aren’t sure how you’ll do it, go ahead and allow yourself to write down the end results you want. This will help you point yourself in the direction you want to go, rather than going in circles.

Break big goals into big-size pieces: Rather than trying to accomplish 20 things today, try doing just one thing toward your goal once a day. Just think, in 20 days you’ll be steps closer than where you are right now.

Be accountable: If you don’t have a mentor or person you can be accountable to, at the least be accountable to yourself. This means keeping track of your progress—or even the lack of it. You might realize that you need to give yourself more time, or perhaps you need a boost of motivation to achieve your goals. Either way, don’t be too hard on yourself. There is a reason people hire coaches and professional help along the way. Everyone needs help now and then.

Finally, keep going and don’t forget to enjoy the journey! Know that if you keep moving forward, one day you’ll wake up and realize you’ve transformed.
