Toronto Stress Management Coach

Toronto skylineBased in Toronto since 2007, my counseling practice employs a variety of techniques and strategies for stress management, mind mastery, and life management coaching. I bring more than 20 years of experience in the mental health field to the task of helping you find peace and happiness in life, as well as an eclectic mixture of therapeutic approaches to dealing with the consequences of stress. My singular goal is to help you overcome the blocking behaviours that lead to increased stress and stress-related illnesses.

It is my firm belief that most of us have experienced an increase in stress in our lives over the past decade or two, largely resulting from our high-tech lifestyle, and increased demands on our time and energy. Employers demand increased productivity in a fragile economic environment, rather than increasing the size of their work force. Family and friends demand more of our time and energy, often through the media of the social network. Mass media demands more of our energy and focus, forcing us to emphasize self-improvement and perfection – in the way we look, think, feel, and act. The 21st Century has become a place of high demand and high stress on virtually everyone.

Stress counseling in Toronto

Understanding the facts about stress, while using stress management activities to combat stress, are the keys to coping, and helping our families to cope.

Stress counseling in Toronto is a mixed bag, as it is in so many places. Some therapists who focus on stress management and anxiety also tend to center their treatments on chemical solutions, rather than taking a more holistic approach to stress counseling. While prescription drugs certainly have their place in helping those with otherwise debilitating conditions, for the majority of us, stress management can be handled in a far less intrusive manner; using meditation, spiritual reinforcement, exercise, diet and nutrition, and other mind mastery techniques designed to promote positive change in your life.

While my credentials as a Toronto stress management coach allow me to approach the field with a great deal of confidence in my training and experience, I also believe that my years of training with Buddhist Monks has enhanced my ability to incorporate a powerful spiritual approach to stress relief and improved mental health.

I have received training as a Developmental Services Worker (DSW, focusing on developmental disabilities and mental illness) as an Addictions Counsellor (ADC) and a Forensic Certificate for Anger Management and High Risk Sexual Behaviour. I have also worked with ACT Team (Assertive Community Treatment Team) at CMHA (Canadian Mental Health Association), and as courtesy staff at CAMH (Centre for Addictions and Mental Health), working with drug and alcohol addictions, as well as process dependencies such as Gambling, Sexual, Relationship, Workaholism, exercise, and other addictions that do not include ingesting a substance.

I have also become a speaker on mental health issues and the debilitating effects of stress, in particular the effects of stress on young people. I am the author of the book Just Give your Head a Shake…And Change your Life for the Better and I regularly write for my blog on stress and Mind Mastery.
